Day 1-2: Arrival in Bangkok
After arriving in Bangkok, we checked in at the Grand Mercure Bangkok Atrium and began exploring. We started with The Grand Palace and Wat Pho, both of which left us speechless. Later, we visited Chatuchak Weekend Market and Platinum Mall, known for offering some of the cheapest shopping in the city. We also attended a Thai cooking class at Siamese Cookery House. The following day, we visited Wat Arun and Wat Samphran, both of which mesmerized us.
Afterwards, we took a coffee break at After the Rain Coffee & Gallery, where we spent two hours boating. Other recommended cafes to explore include Cabbages and Condoms Cafe or Unicorn Cafe. We then went on a floating market day tour, making stops at Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, Maeklong Railway Market, and Amphawa fireflies cruise before finally heading to Chiang Rai.
Day 3-4: Chiang Rai: Unveiling Northern Thailand’s cultural gem and natural splendor
We checked into The Heritage Chiang Rai Hotel and Convention before visiting the White Temple, Blue Temple, and Black Temple. All of these temples were stunning, and I wished we could have stayed longer. In the evening, we explored the night market to immerse ourselves in the local culture and sample various dishes.
The following day, we visited the Big Buddha and took a leisurely break at Lalitta Café, which quickly became my favorite cafe in the world due to its unique feature of a private waterfall inside. Afterwards, we embarked on a day trekking group tour with bamboo cooking. Later in the evening, we departed for Phuket.
Day 5-6: Phuket paradise: Discovering Thailand’s tropical haven of sun, sand, and sea
After checking into Ibis Phuket Kata, we set out to explore the lively art scene of Old Phuket Town, spending a good 2-3 hours there. Later, we admired the sunset from Windmill Viewpoint accompanied by live music and then indulged in the vibrant nightlife of Bangla Road.
The following day, we embarked on an early excursion to Phi Phi Islands, where we snorkeled in the pristine waters of the famous Maya Bay and visited James Bond Island among other sights. Ending the evening at Patong Beach, we checked into Patong Poshtel, ready to rest before our journey to Bangkok the next day.
Day 7: Bangkok buzz: Exploring Thailand’s vibrant capital of culture and commerce
Returning to Bangkok for the final day, we stayed at Ibis Bangkok Riverside. Following an exhilarating adventure in Phuket, I treated myself to a rejuvenating Thai massage, which was incredibly relaxing, and later enjoyed a delightful dinner. As I journeyed towards Suvarnabhumi Airport, my heart and mind overflowed with the myriad experiences that Thailand had generously bestowed upon me.
